Getting Started

How do I register my company on Genesis?

Go to genesiszimbabwe.com and fill out the registration form. You'll need your company name, business type, contact details, owner username and email, and your preferred currencies. The entire process takes about 5 minutes. Once registered, you can immediately log into the Company Portal and start setting up your business.

How long does it take to get started with Genesis POS?

Most businesses are up and running in under an hour. After registration, download the POS app on your Android device or use the web version at genesispos.xyz. Add your products, set up your currencies and exchange rates, and start selling. Our Zimbabwe-based support team provides free onboarding assistance to get you going quickly.

What are the system requirements for Genesis POS?

Genesis POS runs on any Android device (version 6.0 or higher), any modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge), Windows PCs, macOS computers, and Linux systems. No expensive hardware is needed. You can use your existing smartphone or tablet as a POS terminal. For a full setup, you may add a barcode scanner and receipt printer, but these are optional.

Do I need a bank account to register?

No bank account is required to register your company on Genesis. You only need a company name and contact details to get started. Payment for the POS license can be made later via EcoCash, PayNow, bank transfer, or card. The Management App, Supplier Portal, and Company Portal are free and require no payment at all.

Is Genesis POS suitable for my type of business?

Genesis POS works for retail stores, supermarkets, wholesalers, pharmacies, restaurants, hardware stores, clothing boutiques, electronics shops, and more. If you sell products, Genesis can handle it. The system supports barcode scanning, weight scales, multi-currency pricing, and various payment methods to accommodate any retail environment.

How much does Genesis POS cost?

Genesis POS costs $15 per device per month. This is a flat rate that includes every POS feature with no limits on transactions, products, or branches. The Management App, Supplier Portal, Company Portal, and AI PrivateZenith are completely free with no usage limits. There are no setup fees, no tiered plans, and no hidden charges.

Can I try Genesis POS before paying?

Yes. New businesses get the first month completely free. Register your company and use Genesis POS with all features included for 30 days at no cost. No credit card is required to start your trial. After the trial period ends, it's just $15 per device per month.

What payment methods do you accept for billing?

We accept EcoCash, PayNow, bank transfers, Visa, Mastercard, and cash payments. Monthly invoices are sent via email and can be paid using any of these methods. For businesses that prefer annual billing, we offer a discount of one month free when paying for 12 months upfront.

Is there a contract or minimum commitment?

No. There are no long-term contracts or minimum commitment periods. You are billed month-to-month and can cancel at any time with no penalties. If you cancel, you keep access to the system until the end of your paid billing period. Volume discounts are available for businesses with 5 or more devices.

How does per-device licensing work?

Each device running the Genesis POS app requires a separate license. For example, if you have 3 checkout counters, you need 3 licenses at $15 each ($45 per month total). The Management App, Supplier Portal, and Company Portal can be accessed from unlimited devices at no extra cost. Licenses are tied to your company account and can be transferred between devices if needed.

Features & Functionality

Does Genesis POS support multi-currency transactions?

Yes, Genesis POS has full multi-currency support. You can price products in any currency (USD, ZiG, ZAR, etc.), accept payments in multiple currencies within a single transaction, and give change in the customer's preferred currency. Exchange rates are automatically updated and can be configured per branch. This is essential for Zimbabwean businesses dealing with multiple currencies daily.

Does Genesis POS work offline?

Yes. Genesis POS has an offline-first architecture. Every transaction is saved locally on the device and automatically syncs to the cloud when internet connection is restored. Your business never stops, even during network outages. All your data — products, prices, customer history — is available offline, so you can sell and manage inventory without interruption.

Can I accept EcoCash payments through Genesis POS?

Yes. Genesis POS integrates with PayNow for real-time EcoCash payment verification. Customers can pay via EcoCash, OneMoney, M-Pesa, InnBucks, or any mobile money service that works with PayNow. Payments are verified instantly and transaction IDs are stored for reconciliation. The integration uses SHA512 security for maximum protection.

Does Genesis POS support barcode scanning?

Yes. Genesis POS works with any USB, Bluetooth, or camera-based barcode scanner. You can also generate and print barcodes for your products directly from the system. QR code scanning is supported for quick product lookup. This makes checkout lightning fast for businesses with many products.

Can I print receipts with Genesis POS?

Yes. Genesis POS prints receipts to any thermal receipt printer via Bluetooth, USB, or network connection. Receipt templates are customizable with your company logo, VAT breakdown, barcodes, and promotional messages. The system supports Epson, Star, Bixolon, and generic POS printers. Receipts can also be emailed or sent via WhatsApp.

Can I manage inventory across multiple branches?

Yes. Genesis supports unlimited branches with full multi-branch inventory management. You can track stock levels at each location, transfer stock between branches with an approval workflow, and view consolidated inventory reports across all branches. Low-stock alerts and expiry date tracking help you manage inventory proactively.

Technical

What type of hardware do I need for Genesis POS?

You can start with just an Android smartphone or tablet. For a complete POS setup, we recommend: an Android device (tablet or phone) running the POS app, a barcode scanner (USB or Bluetooth), and a thermal receipt printer. However, all of these are optional. The web version works on any computer, and you can use the device camera as a barcode scanner.

Do I need internet to use Genesis POS?

No. Genesis POS works fully offline. You only need internet for initial setup, syncing data, and payment verification. When offline, all sales are saved locally and automatically sync when connectivity returns. The system is designed specifically for businesses in areas with unreliable internet.

Is my business data secure?

Yes. Genesis implements enterprise-grade security measures: SHA512 encryption for payment verification, HTTPS for all data transmission, encrypted database storage, role-based access control (managers, cashiers, stock clerks), comprehensive audit logs of all actions, and regular security updates. Your data is stored securely in the cloud with daily backups.

Can I export my data from Genesis?

Yes. You can export your data at any time. Genesis supports CSV and Excel exports for products, sales reports, inventory data, customer lists, and supplier information. There is no lock-in — your data belongs to you and you can take it with you if you ever decide to leave.

Is there a mobile app for Genesis?

Yes. Genesis POS is available as an Android APK that can be downloaded and installed on any Android device. The web version runs at genesispos.xyz and works on any device with a browser. The Management App is available at genesisbusinessmanagent.xyz. Windows and macOS desktop versions are also available for download from the Genesis website.

Do you offer training for my staff?

Yes. We provide free onboarding training for all new businesses. Our team can train your staff in person (in Harare and surrounding areas) or remotely via video call. We also provide video tutorials, user manuals, and step-by-step guides. Training covers POS operation, inventory management, reporting, and troubleshooting.

Can you help me migrate from my current POS system?
